Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

I have been following this thread for quite some time. I like to keep up it daily. It is good to hear about everyones experiences and moods. I feel like i have gotten to know quite a few of you by reading these posts.
I have one suggestion for cheyen and her new eggs. You will need to put something on top of the grid in your bator. When the quail hatch their little feet will go through the grid and they will get injured.
Other than that, i know you will do great. Good luck.

Thanks, samsr! I knew I was forgetting something, lol. Don't worry, I'll lay a towel or something down when they start popping out. I'm glad you've liked our thread so far!

Granny, they're so pretty! The pictures really don't do them justice. Some of them are dual colored, too. They really do look like wild bird eggs. I can't wait to see what comes out of them.

Cheye congrats and good luck on your eggs, they look like easter candy eggs.

Granny Glad you got the goodies ENJOY. sorry to hear about your eggs, how are the frost bit chickens doing did they come out of it??

Cheyenn sorry to hear about your eggs as well.

I have about 4 hens who think they should go broody silly things. Gerturde is especially determined have broke 4 broody attemts so far since beginning of December. Little does she realize I WILL WIN!!! She can go broody in april. Happens to be the best mother I had last year. Sat on 10 eggs hatched 8 and raised 7 to adulthood. Did it all outside in a nest thru the spring monsoon we had last year. Silly question for you eggsperts is broodiness catchy now I have a couple other who want to be momma's. Was in the mid 30's today here.

twisted acres, not a silly question, a cool phenomenon.yes, one hen encourages the next. and i dont think you will win. you just cant stop a girl from doing what a girls gonna do ! lol i have seen them sit rocks when they couldnt get anything else. their spring is earlier then ours too. as far as my roosters, some got better and some look the same. i am just going to wait and watch. i see the puzzle in your words about incubating, its about bringing life into the world. to hold something so tiny , helpless in your hand knowing its dependant on you. its an awesome feeling. you should try it sometime. for me anyway. some you can only get by incubating. a lot of people, a lot of reasons.

Opening the incubator to hand turn these eggs is making me paranoid. I'm going to have to think of a way to fill the holes in my egg turner so they won't fall through.

cant think of anything you could use without messing up the humidity unless pieces of sponge maybe? i can imagine the size of your x and o. i would be afraid to use anything that they may fall out

Yeah, I can't think of anything that won't mess up humidity, or fall off because of the humidity. I know a lot of people "dry" incubate, but I'm not willing to do that with this batch.

dont blame you there. do you have the button quail already? i sometimes have my bantam eggs slip from my fingers while turning. i just cant imagine...

I've never had any type of quail before, granny. This is brand new to me. And lol, don't worry. They're sitting on foam trays in the incubator just in case they slip.
