Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

Unfortunately the silly thing is terrified of water! She doesn't want anything to do with it. Honestly, I'm not sure how she still has so much energy without having more than a few sips of it. She's also pecking at everything but her food.

Well, where ever she's pecking, sprinkle food. We had one that only thought my nails were edible. I would scoop up the mash with my nails and hold my hand in there :).
As long as she's getting a few sips, she should be okay. Just keep at it. And I would tell you not to stress, but we both know that's not going to happen!!

I have a random bantam pipped so I'll be fretting soon.

Thanks for the advice! Good luck with that bantam. I'll want pictures later.

And I want video of you going around saying doh doh doh to the chick

Seriously though, Lindz is right, that does work. My nephew's chicks come running when he does that and taps the floor or ground.

is her water warm? they dont like it cold. it should be baby bottle temp. and i put a teaspoon of sugar in the water dip the beak but not the nose,my mom does that all the time. and put some of the water in the food to moisten it. u can use a pencil tip to tap with if u dont have the nails, they know the sound. so, how is the little bugger? i lost my last egg today, glad its over

Sorry Granny. As fun as it is hatching I know it's equally as sad when they don't hatch :(

oh, thank you starkasm. they were infected with e coli i believe. nasty stuff i was trying to treat the embryos with tylan inj. but it was too severe.

my guinea laid out in the yard and her eggs were dirty, poop on them. i put them in the bator with my chicken eggs so the guinea eggs contaminated the chicken eggs with e coli through the yolk sac causing a bad infection for them both because the eggs are porous .so their yolk was as big as they were at hatch time with infection. i piped one that was due to hatch and injected it with antibiotics but i waited too long to start. it was a last ditch try anyway.
