Possible respiratory infection, peafowl?

@casportpony...Blue isn’t himself again. Yesterday I first noticed he wasn’t quite right, but wasn’t showing any symptoms of anything. Today he still isn’t right, he’s not tempted by his favourite treat. He isn’t showing any obviously visible symptoms, I think perhaps the right side of his face is slightly swollen and poo is very watery.
Is it too early to use the Baytril again, or should I use the Amikacin?

EDIT: On closer inspection mucous is present around the eye and a little in his nose. I’ve administered some Baytril and intend to do so twice a day for 5 days. If you suggest anything different then please let me know. I’ll keep an eye on his weight and I have everything here to tube feed if necessary. Hopefully we have caught it very early or it’s not as aggressive as last time.
Thanks

I am not an expert but with my chickens I use different antibiotics if the infection returns. some people use baytril again 2 weeks after the first infection. I hope kathy will see your post soon. try to send her pm.

I'd try the Baytril again. If you don't see improvement in 3 days you might want to try the amikacin.
I started Baytril yesterday and there is definitely improvement already and he’s eating again. I’ll keep watching and take the necessary action.
Thanks again, Kathy

@casportpony, Blue’s swelling seems to have reduced and his eyes are nice and bright...but appears to be extremely nauseous, he wants to eat, but seems repulsed by food when he actually picks it up. I’ve been giving him the Baytril for 3 days now...I’ve seen that the recommended course is 3-5 days. I want to stop, as I feel if I continue it could do more harm than good especially if I have to stress him out with tube feeding, but I know you know better than me, so I would like your advice please.

Is the swelling 100% gone?
I think so...it certainly looks like it. He is very fatigued and keeps falling asleep (I noticed the same last time; which I did see was a side effect), although won’t let me catch him, when I try, unlike the other day. I’ve been giving him 15mg/kg twice a day for the last 3 days...if you think that I should still do the 5 then I will. I also saw that it can make them feel more nauseous if their crops are empty.

@casportpony, good morning. I’ve started tube feeding today as Blue still seems totally uninterested in eating or drinking. However I have no idea how much I should be feeding, or with what frequency. I gave him 40cc of baby bird hand feeding food, I followed the instructions to make it on the packet, 25% food to 75% fluid. The packet says 7g of powdered food per 100g of weight which according to that would mean we are supposed to give him a ridiculous amount. Or is it more of an individual per bird thing? Feeling how full their crop is after feeding? Thanks.
