Post Phoenix Pics Please

I was out looking at the khaki silver pullet and her comb is confusing. To me it looks more like a bad peacomb but is almost non existent with lots of feathers growing on it. The guy we got her from breeds lots of longtails and oriental type birds but said she was from his dun phoenix project, the siblings had single combs but hers is weird, I'll try to upload a pic of it before the weekend. If so she will just go into the longtail bantam project pen. It will be interesting to see what she throws when I mate her to the white cockerel (mother was silver and dad was golden). The color that leaks on him almost looks lavender diluted.

yes, I got one of those off him. Been using him as a project bird. If I remember right, it's been a year for me too,
He yes is a side effect of his lavender project. He he said they had been crossed back to his white, which I'm pretty sure carried silver duckwing.
His hens all come clean black, but the males he said always end up like this.

He sent me this one just to see what I could make of them seeing how I had a couple dun hens to use.

Here's what I got from him, sounds similar to the one you got

He's pretty much a gold birchen of sorts

He is exactly like my rooster. And yes, Cy's white bantams were created using his silver bantams, which were created with phoenix and his standards, so that would make sense.

Only difference is all of my hen's like I say are coming black with silver/gold hackles.

I've liked him too. Cy sent him out as a bonus freebie. Called him a color cull due to the lack of getting pure black males. So far he's been pretty usefull around here though.
That pic was taken shortly after we got him last fall, he was a little beat up in the feather department, but boy he sure put it on this year.

for your girls to be coming out with color, there has got to be duckwing or something hidden in there somewhere I would think. I bred this boy to all sorts of stuff this year, and most all the solid colors did come out clean on the girls, The boys are look OK little color here and there, but no solid patches

Very interesting. I will post pictures of the offspring to show exactly what I am talking about. I also got another bird from Cy's self-blue's this year, this one is white with the occasional colored saddle. He was the result of a Blue/white to a golden. Cy thought I might like seeing what came from it - Unfortunately only one hatched though. You can tell immediately from his size he isn't a bantam. He isn't quite as big but is close in size to some of my Golden standard cockerels brooded with him. I will put him on a white pullet for fun, then probably try on a colored one later on.

Yep that should look neat for sure. I'm loving all these barred birds. That lavender cuckoo rose comb boy I hatched from your eggs a while back is looking good now. Didnt get a super long tail but boy it was thick this year. He's just finish his molt and starting back and is putting it on quick. Think this will be his second adult molt and he's growing fast this time, maybe he'll get a little more lenght this go round.

I love him though either way, the barring on lavender is just nice looking to me.

Yep some pics would be good.

And I'm the same way. I like getting color projects. Kinda like Christmas to me on hatch day, looking to see what came out of stuff that you are unsure of genetically speaking

I have been meaning to get pics of the phoenix, we moved them into the heated shop into some fancy new pens we built. I plucked the main golden cocks saddle for craft projects so he doesnt look the best but the others look decent. My pure silver hen is going on 6 and molted for the first time, I didnt think it would make that much of a difference but wow, its like night and day. The khaki silver has an awesome raptor like head, it reminds me of a bird of prey look, the khaki is really pleasing to the eye. I will have the camera out there anyway taking pics of other farm stuff so I'll snag some pics to show off to yall
