No that's a new one on me with them. I would definately keep and eye on him and keep them opened up so it doesnt cause any harm to him

We keep are keeping an eye on them. if w start to see it happen again we attempt to retreive the feather before it gets to becoming an issue.

Off topic:
Boggy Bottom Bantams do you usually keep your roos togather? (pic #4 down) Or is it just for the pic? If so do you have aggresion during certian seasons? I want more birds but I don't have tons of room and I already have a roo.

I'm not BBB but I will try and help, I have found if you raise them together or buy young ones (roosters) and put them together all at one time it is much easier then buying older ones and putting them together at different times.

That's xactly right.
These are just this years birds and are all in grow out pens right now, but yes on all my birds, from all the bantams, to the turkeys and peafowl, I keep multiple males in every pen. For the bantams I usually run 2-3 males per pen of 4-10 hens.
Do it like listed above and you'll have little to no problem. Put a new male in an established pen and watch out!!

Hey Aubrey, I've been meaning to drop back in and post more pics but it's been kinda crazy here lately

Wanted to check in and see if you'd PM me regarding phoenix eggs/chicks, ect. My white pullet is just stunning, and so very sweet. I'd love to add a few more of those lil toots when available. Now for a question I hope you can help with...is there really such a thing as a "Blue Phoenix"???

Theres a guy in 4state area advertise in paper for them. I've called, left messages and no reply as yet. Wanted your opinion on this. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care...

Guys I finally have my new Phoenix roo in his new coop with his hen and a OEGB pullet. The only problem is, when DH caught him, he pulled out a handfull of tail feathers

It looks like they didn't break off, so are these going to grow back immediatley or after a moult? I saved the feathers, it is such a dang shame.

will most likely be when he molts the rest

Okay thanks. DH said that they came out very easy, that maybe he was already molting, but there was blood at the skin where they came out so I dunno.

Yep,
They are called blood feathers, still growing actually. When like that, they will come out very easily, with good quality phoenix that can be over a year. You can not grab their tails at this time without them coming out. I have accidentally step on some in the pen that were dragging behind them, just them stepping away will pull them out, just have to be careful with these types
