Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Bill I hope you do well showing. Those boys are still young . Lots of growing left in them. Your buff cochins are pretty. I love the buff color but right now I am just going to concentrate on the black and blues till I get them like I want them.

I will enjoy watching you develop your buffs. Probably adding that non related cockerel into the mix will help improve the fertility for sure.

Your Blacks are worth focusing on. The 8 little chicks I have will work out great to help make a few NICE BAMMA babies. I'll protect your line, like I hope to do with Doug's. And you never know. You just might get a small gift in the mail for you to either eat, give to Imogene, or hatch out. New blood is good. And many of the better breeders seem to not want to experiment around with their flocks like I do mine.
Yeah, it seems that alot of the Exhibition crowd are ALL doing the some ole thing. They all, except for Doug have gone to the same guy or their birds. I did too. BUT, I really like making my own thing. I do agree by using a common bloodline, I hope to make it work with these small breeding pens. Prolly breed out a couple of dozen from each pen. Get up to a hundred to grow out, and then cull down heavily.

I just took these pics of the other three 1/2 Akers girls and their bro JeRONimo.
These babies daddy is the $6 Roo that my friend Lee told me about. Captain Ron. I am just starting out. And beggars can't be choosers. I am very pleased how this breeding turned out. This is as close to production quality I hope to get. They lay a butt load of eggs. And are 90% fertile.

I joined the JUBILLEE project with this entry. One of 4 fertile eggs by my Buff cockerel on my SS pullet.
Not a real Orp but working on it.

I just started reading this thread because I have some buff orps that I am growing out. They are about 12 weeks old right now and I wanted to do some research on them because I am loving these chickens. They are so friendly and beautiful, I think I may want to get some more. I will post some pics of my babies when I get home.

lildinkem - I can't see any of your pictures and I don't know why. I even tried to post the link in another window and I can't seem to get to them.

Here's our first buff orp peep of our hatch due today.

Congrats on the chick, but you really need to clean your incubator. That is a breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria.

lolol It is pretty gross isn't it? lolol I hit it with bleach every other cycle. I might have missed a cycle or two.... lolol

Yes, it is very gross and disgusting. I think you've missed more than 2 hatching cycles tho. An incubator needs to be thouroughly cleaned after every hatch in it.
