Well we are progressing....since I have volunteers, I don't get a lot of say about the materials....all free so far. I'm going to pick up some roofing panels (those fiberglass corregated ones). The are doing a good job so far with what they have. Everything is of recycled wood which means there are a lot of cracks and holes. Soooooooooo.....when they finish their work....I will be going to work with my 1/4" or 1/2" wiring. If you look closely, you will see they used "chicken wire" (I hate it

) on my run.....they are at lease half way thru. They are going to also put it over the top with a board support. Don't mind it there BUT.... I bought a $50 roll of 1/4" hardware wire......had it just 6' from them.!!!!!!! They had to move it to put the post in! HELLO !!!!!!!!! The best thing I can say....this young man means well and is doing this on his own time/and has harvested these boards from an old shed...so sweet. He's putting in good bones for me to be able to attach my wiring to.

Yes, you are very smart to replace that worthless chicken wire with 1/2" hardware cloth for sure. You live in an area with a lot of predators..better to be safe than sorry!!

My 5 girls moved in a couple months ago. The big part is my potting shed. I access the nest boxes from inside the shed and have a window that opens into the run. Its easy to toss in some treats without stepping in poo. Lily likes to watch the backyard action from the landing.

Yes, it will be. I was experimenting with some scrap I had from construction. They actually don't like that side of the coop for some reason. They jump up onto the feed bin, then into the nesting boxes, from there. But, yes, as I get recovered for the work yesterday, likely in the morning, tomorrow, I'll be building the brooder a, and should be able to get those ladders built a bit better.

That is essentially what I do. Anything big one day and take a day to recup.

But it works and I do get things accomplished.

Yep, that's about all I can do anymore. 3 days a week of physical work, and taking it easy the other 4.
It's tough, getting old. But the birds make it fun, mostly. Then, there's the poop!

And yes my daughter is harnessed up she is our rock climbing buddy

This coop is 6'x14' with six nest boxes, 20' of roost poles, and is designed to be moved once a week. By moving it weekly, your chickens have fresh clean ground, new space to explore, fresh grass, able to supplement diet, and leave manure behind as fertilizer. Two people can push it forward 14' each week, or you can pull it forward with a riding mower or 4 wheeler. Muddy runs are a thing of the past. This coop looks nice in a urban or rural setting. The wheels are 8" and have a 300# per wheel capacity.

I love the idea of portable runs and especially a spacious one like this. Since we had dogs attack our coop it was lucky we had our coop set on a 3-foot wide paver stone pathway all around. What protects these portable coops from digging predators like a stray neighborhood mutt?

I love the security of putting coops inside pens. I saw that cute red coop before and it's nice to see it in use to give size perspective. And the new build is sweet. Chainlink ever so much sturdier than poultry wire. Wouldn't keep out snakes but if you don't have them in your area than no problem. What's being used as roof material? Is it wired or a soft top? Good use of property boulders for the base. I like the look of rock borders.
