So eggcited. And yes... I take way to many pics of them too. Eggs and birds so don't feel weird about it KristyMN....![]()
Oh and since I had issues with safety... lost a lot of birds to dogs... wellll... my girls are inside a lot. I do put them back out for the day but it can lead to some funny photo ops.
Who wouldn't want a chicken as a Christmas gift? Though she is probably wondering why we would put up a tree she can't roost in.
I love their names!I was starting to wonder if I had a bunch of dud chickens! But went out today and found this!
Laid by one of these two girls...either Beatrice (a 29 week old Buff Orpington), or Matilda (a 25 week old red sex link). Both started squatting about five days ago and have been noisy as all get out the last few days!
They have decided the dog house would make a great nest and were both in there rearranging the straw when I let them out for a little free range time! We have five other chickens that should be getting close to laying too, but these girls are the best candidates for the first egg! It's so exciting!

Congrats- your eggs are lovely! What good girls you have!
Sheegeekster!Recently I posted a pic of a pale beige egg I thought was my Ethyl's. She's an EE, and a late bloomer, and along came this nearly white egg that I hadn't seen before, so I decided it must be hers. Their eggs can be near any color I guess. This pic shows all the egg shades I get now, and it turns out Ethyl's laying the pale blue eggs in the middle. I just got the third one today, so now I know the whitish egg was the anomaly, probably from my Wyandotte. I'm soooo happy one of my pair of EEs makes BLUE eggs! Wahoo!(happy dance)![]()
