Prayers for the Haitian people

I was shocked when I saw this on my net news. That is a bit too close to where I used to live in south FL for me. I can not imagine the carnage they have with all the buildings down and all the UN embassors there. It is so sad.

Yep Cybercat..I am from Fl also..was really surprised to hear this..the best Dr. I ever had was from Haiti..

A yr and half ago I went on a mission trip to Haiti. We spent 4 of our days there in a orphange...playing , cleaning, feeding the kids. Making repairs to the house. The poverty is really unbelievable...even seeing pictures does not adequately describe how these people live. It broke my heart to leave these children..I wanted to hide them all in my suitcase. Unfortunately where they are located, is not good. I have not heard any news regarding their safety but its probably not good.

Please continue to pray and be thankful....really really thankful for all you have.

This is what is called, "the big one" Pressure builds up and must release. They had an earthquake (not sure the magnitude) 100 years ago. This same "big one" is building pressure in different places all over the world and will inevidibly release its pressure.

On the news tonight, they (former pres. Clinton and other political figures and news reporters) were asking for monetary donations as objects may take several weeks to get there. I tried to call unifef but there so backed up I couldn't get through... Im going to there site later tonight and make my contribution there. I encourage everyone of you to do the same. We have no idea how fortunate we ALL are til you see something like that. My babies are warm and confortable in their beds tonight .... so many other babies are not

Even if it is just $2... please do it. If all of BYC donated $2, we could send $100,000!!!!

hmmm... maybe we can make a donation thread...

I am feeling so sorry for the people in and from Haiti.
I not only was in Berkeley Ca. (and nearly got on the Cypress structure freeway that collapse)but by the Grace of God my family was safe.
I am also from Fla.
I can so relate to much a small amount of what they are going through.

My dad is in Jamaica right now! It didn't hit me til right now how close that is!!

I started this thread on Random Ramblings... I don't think it's breaking any rules. Im not techniquely asking for money?

The newspaper this morning said that they think it might reach over 100,000 dead. The epicenter was almost in Port au Prince, the capital and largest city. It is so sad. Our local paper had a list of donation sites. I will copy it later so people can help if they wish, or can afford to.

We will keep all God's children in our prayers especially the smallest and those most in need like in Haiti.
A PRAYER FOR THE CHILDREN

We pray for the Children
who sneak popsicles before supper,
who erase holes in math workbooks,
who can never find their shoes.

And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
who never "counted potatoes,"
who are born in places where we wouldn't be caught dead,
who never go to the circus, who live in an X-rated world.

We pray for children
who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money.

And we pray for those who never get dessert,
who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,
who watch their parents watch them die,
who can't find any bread to steal,
who don't have any rooms to clean up,
whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser,
whose monsters are real.

We pray for children
who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food,
who like ghost stories,
who shove dirty clothes under the bed,
who never rinse out the tub,
who get visits from the tooth fairy,
who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool,
who squirm in church and scream in the phone,
whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.

And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime,
who will eat anything,
who have never seen a dentist,
who aren't spoiled by anybody,
who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
who live and move, but have no being.

We pray for children who want to be carried and for those who must,
who we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance.

For those we smother and . . . for those
who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.
