Pregnant dog??

Beautiful pups.

I don't think the OP meant for her dog to give birth outside. She was not sure on due date.
Yeah a lot went wrong. We need to remember that this was not planned/expected that a giant breed dog would go into heat at such a young age.

OP is now painfully aware that a new mummy dog needs to be penned up.

Lets all remember to be kind in how we respond.

Didn’t mean for it to be rude, sorry if it sounded that way. People tell me all the time I sound like I’m mad when I text! 😬

I would say that it depends on who is reading it. To some me it may read as "passionate about xyz" while to others it can read as "hurtful criticism".

I tend to come across as overly blunt at times.....it's not intended that way but it reads that way. I think of myself as direct and to the point not rudely blunt.

This is why a nursing mother needs 24/7 monitoring, even if it's audio over a baby monitor.

@FarmerGirl1010, I'm sure she's fine, but she needs to come home soon. Someone needs to stay with the puppies and monitor them until you find mom. If friends or neighbors could help look for her, that would be great.

Did you get the Esbilac formula and feeding syringes I mentioned before? Someone will need to feed the pups if you don't find her within the hour, and will need to continue feeding every 2 hours until mom is located.

Whoever is closest to Duchess needs to look for her. I'd recommend bringing a squeaky toy, or any toy that mimics the whimpering that pups make. Even playing it from a video on your phone might work — if she hears it, she'll hopefully come running.

Have you counted the puppies? It's possible she's trying to dispose of a sickly one.

She needs to be contained and monitored 24/7. If someone isn't there to watch her, there needs to be a baby monitor so you can hear if mom leaves, or if the puppies are crying because they're hungry.

This I agree with. I can provide an example of "when things go wrong".

We purchased a bloodhound pup from a friend who owns both parent dogs.
Mom dog is big at 115#. There were 12 in that litter.

Well in the middle of the night she accidentally stepped on a little male breaking his leg and of course he was crying out. That set mom to moving around A LOT.
Due to a baby monitor the owners were able to quickly step in. No telling how bad things could have gone without that monitor.
