Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

I added 1 more call egg that was just laid this morning. This won’t cause any issues right? It will be exactly 24 hrs behind. I figure the timeframe is close enough that I can lock them down at the same time.

I think it'll be fine. They don't seem to ever wanna hatch at the same time anyway.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking. I’ve done this with pekins and I usually have the late stragglers that hatch with the eggs that are behind.

I set 20 call eggs last week, but only 9 are growing I’m pretty sure the ones I removed yesterday are from a very young girl(s) so I’m not really surprised. I’ll be happy if just a few hatch anyway.

I think one of my problems last time was that my girls were younger and newer layers. You helped me out last time and I really appreciated it.

Day 3!! I was filling the water trough on the incubator and decided to take a very quick peek. I saw at least 4 or 5 that are developing! The germinal disc was clearly visible and growing in size and I could see the hearts forming! There’s a few others that might be developing but I’m not 100% sure. We shall see when I candle later this week and get a few pictures! Sadly the pekin x crested duck eggs are not developing. They are 2 days ahead with no development at all in 4/4 eggs. I’ll wait till second candle (probably day 6 for the calls and day 8 for them) to toss them.
However I am really really excited to see that quite a few of the calls are developing

Day 4 for the calls!

Since the pekin eggs were on day 6 today I decided I’d candle and take them out if they weren’t developing. As predicted they were not so I went ahead and removed them. Looks like no pekin crosses this hatch.

Anyways when I was doing this I figured I’d candle the calls quick without removing them from the incubator. I am absolutely ecstatic! They look great and I marked down which eggs are developing. Eggs 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9 are developing. 9 is the egg that is 1 day behind so it is on day 3. Egg 7 appears not to be developing. I was absolutely delighted to see that 8/9 of the call eggs are developing! I am going to leave egg 7 till at least day 6 before tossing. I checked the air cell size and it looks like the humidity is doing good at 35.

Third candle! Today is day 6! Everyone looks decent and I got some pictures! Air cell looks slightly large on one of the eggs. I took a picture to show air cell size on the rest (9th photo is how most of the others look). All the others look good on air cell size the one in the seventh picture is the one with a large air cell. I’m thinking it might be because that egg has a thinner shell? . I’m thinking I might up the humidity just tad.
Egg in the 6th picture is (#7) is the clear. I’m tossing it today. I figure since it is day 6 it’s safe now.
