Does anyone have experience with duck harnesses? I’m currently looking for one for Bobbles. I tried a ferret harness which almost worked but not quite. I’m thinking of ordering a custom made one. Any suggestions?

here’s a video of him on our little trip :) P.s. mind the blur… I covered the name of a business.

He’s adorable! Can’t blame you for favoring him. :love
I don’t know of any harnesses that work, but when Phoenix was still a house duck, she wouldn’t get very far from me. She still does a head bob when I say her name now, but she won’t let me touch her anymore. :(

I did take the duckling with me camping over the weekend. I tried putting her on the ground and she sat close for a while, but then tried to run from me! I thought we’d never catch the little devil. Lol

Thanks so much. He’s a charmer for sure. 🥰

Aww that’s sad that sweet little Phoenix won’t let you touch her anymore. Most all my ducks are the same way now unless I have treats. Bobbles however still follows me around and comes right to me. He’s a special little fella. ❤️

The little baby looks to be doing better. That’s so sweet that she went camping with you. You’re doing such a great job being her “nurse”. Lol they sure can zoom, I’m glad you caught her.

I had quite the scare tonight! More so since I saw a huge owl stalking the ducks last night!

I put all the ducks in the pen when it started getting dark out. I started counting as usual…. 1…3…… 18! I was one short! I searched the area with no luck. I shook the treats and called… nothing! I had remembered seeing her beside my shed when I first let them out. I was looking around and I heard a little noise. I have a pile with some scrap metal beside my shed (chain link fence, tin from my shed, etc…) and under it was none other than Chip the missing duck!

I’ve got a super angry broody dux! She just started laying eggs at the beginning of this month. She started sitting seriously today. She’s got around 12 eggs from the looks of it. She practically bit my arm off for taking her off her nest! Unfortunately she chose a bad spot to build her extravagant feather filled nest. I cannot justify leaving her outside without protection. She is now quacking nonstop and very ornery.

Finally on to my questions: Can I move her nest elsewhere or will she quit sitting? She is still young (right at 6 months) could she be a good mother?

Glad they are all accounted for!

I’ve heard of them being moved, but usually I think it works best if the move is done after they have a chance to settle into the nest and truly commit to it. If there is no way to protect her out there, then you don’t have much choice. Risk it by letting her stay out, or try moving her and see if she sticks. I moved one into a large dog crate once, but I think I let her sit for about a week first.

Speaking of moving nests, I had a serama hen get thru the fence and nest in my pigeon pen. I left her there, but knew the chicks would likely hatch while I was gone over the weekend, and she was up really high on a shelf, so I decided to move her. I picked up the nest (dog food bowl) and she stayed right on the bowl of eggs while I moved the whole thing! Lol. All 8 chicks had hatched when I got home
