Price of feedin your area

I have to wonder if it will ever go down/stabilize...

I would think it would reach a point where the demand will start falling because people will be giving up their birds, just like it has been with horses. I cannot believe how many ads there are on Craigslist right now for horses for sale... shoot, I'd be riding my horse everywhere if I had one. One of the restaurant/bars in a nearby town actually has a hitching post now!! LOL!

Went to Del's yesterday and got a 50 lb bag of layer for $10.11 (plus 9% sales tax). I was expecting to pay $14 or so, so am pretty glad.

It was on sale, but who cares?!?

Yup, just under $14 for 50# here. My birds used to eat local Organic grain from southern vermont, but I just can't afford it. The price above was for good ol' Blue Seal. Three bags today about cleaned out my wallet. . .

edited once again for my rotten typing skills. . .

I used to get my feed from TSC and/or Rural King, but now I get it from the feed mill. I go thru a half ton a month and it cost me around $180.00. The feed mill is only 10 miles away.

If you can, you should look into a feed mill that is close to you. They grind it the way I want it. They will ad to it what I want them do. Im very happy with the feed and the cost.......

Just north of Raleigh, paid $8.49 for a 20 lb. bag of Dumor Chick Starter, and $10.49 for a 25 lb. bag of scratch. 6.75% sales tax. (Someone said 9% sales tax in WA?! Holy cow!)

Question for NC folks - is there a feed mill around the Raleigh area, or points north?

Thanks!

Have any of you tried something else, besides the traditional corn, pellet, etc?

How about "Okara"?

Where do you find feed (and I mean natural grain, not pellets) for 150-200 laying chicks?

9% sales tax!!!!! Yikes!!!!! So, in addition to the 30+% you get taken off the top (state plus federal payroll), the state asks you to pony up nearly another 9% on top of your already pre-taxed money?

I'd riot in the streets....just saying....time to vote some politicians out at that point.....

You don't even want to know what I pay to feed my goats. I'm on a dry lot and what they eat comes from me. Hay is $11 a bale if they have it. We need to stock up but no one seems to have enough to get.

Grains are never under $10 and that goes for laying pellets, starter crumbles, alfalfa pellets is usually $12 and goat feed. Scratch I believe is the only one under $10.

Lets just say I never leave the feed store under $50.

I previously posted that I pay $16.21 for 50# of layer feed.

Well, I googled Tucson feed stores, and found one that has 50# layer for $14.15. Needless to say, I am changing feed stores!
