In the Brooder
Howdy all,
I am borrowing a friends plucker this weekend to process ducks. It's a Clucker Plucker or professional Whizbang with a spinning bottom.
I have paraffin wax for pin feathers but I have never used it. How do you heat the wax and dunk the bird? I have 8 pounds, how much do
I need? (15 ducks?)
After processing is done, I want to build my own plucker. For ducks is a rotary drum preferred over the drop in tub? As I am buying fingers I see serrated and non, big and small- any preference??
My plan is an electric motor to spin a 6-8" pvc pipe with fingers in it, maybe have a grated top to rest the bird on and shield with a cut up plastic barrel.
