Hey my loves,

So my gorgeous Silkie/EE girl started laying really early and laid every single day (sans a couple days inbetween) for almost an entire month. Then I ran out of her feed and changed it, suddenly she stopped laying for like 2 weeks. I know they start and stop when they are young like this, but she was also losing a bit of weight (she didn't like the two different feeds I bought (they were out of her normal kind). Anyway, today she FINALLY laid again, but the egg was small and almost white (she lays beautiful green eggs).

Is this normal? Is something wrong? I didn't know a chicken could get so stressed over a change in feed like this . The color and size of the egg is what is worrying me most. I know I can always count on you ladies and gents to put me at ease so I hope that will be the case this time too and I'm just overreacting ;).

oh, I just posted a question too. I had to change my girls feed too. I am not too worried, they haven't laid in 2 days but I loooove getting eggs. So cute and fun.

I am not sure what is going on. The stopping of laying isnt alarming but the difference in egg color and the not eating is. Try to find her normal feed asap and if she still isnt eating, then say something. Wait till tomorrow and comment her egg color and if it is still small and white then you may want to remove her from the rest of the flock for a little bit or take her to the vet. I hope this helped!

I don't think it is even possible for a blue egg layer to lay a white egg.
Do you have her caged by herself to make sure it is her laying it and not a different chicken.
Also yes a change in feed can stress them out.
Stress can cause problems.
