Pumpkins

As I understand it pumpkin and I think squash is a good treat for the birds.

Do you just toss a whole pumpkin in? Or halve it? Other?

I toss my whole pumpkin in but I cut out a little bit so they can start esting

I used to get an extra pumpkin very halloween. We would make people treats out of the seeds in the extra. From the other 6 pumpkins, we would put the innards into the extra, place it in are girls run, and they would gobble it up.

Put it out, chop a few chunks out and say goodbye to the pumpkin.

We just smash them on a rock in the run, a few hours later, GONE!

So I’d say scoop your inards make pie or jack-o-lanterns and feed them what you don’t need.

If your jack-o-lantern isn’t moldy or rotten you can feed it after Halloween too.

First pumpkin wasn’t popular. The girls had eaten pumpkin guts, leftover baked pumpkin but were suspicious about whole pumpkin. I broke it up and after a while they were pecking. For the last couple of years I will put a couple of whole pumpkins out and wait for the girls to ‘carve’ it A couple of neighbors bring their pumpkins after Halloween and I usually just break/drop them on the patio. Squirrels will eat them too
