Purple Peafowl

At first my mom was all for purple peafowl because they are purple but when she saw the color fading she kind of lost interest in them. I still hope to get Purples.

Have you shown her a picture of those Violette birds? I dunno if those fade, but they are incredible... if she likes purple, she will positively swoon for the violette ones.

Then the price will make her pass out

Haha I have had trouble with my mom's opinion as well! My mom's favorite color is green, so I was hoping that she would love green peafowl. She likes the blues better and doesn't see why I want greens. Go figure!

Purple is my favorite color, but as for peafowl I don't really like the Purple peafowl or the Violette peafowl. I agree with Dany12 they just don't seem to be as vibrant as India Blues. I don't like how much they fade. Now purple spaldings seem to be more vibrant. I don't think you are looking for spaldings though.

My god... I was just scrolling down and saw the word "purple" and thought... no way. I know there's a lot of peafowl varieties but I had no clue this was one of them! They are absolutely beautiful... and my mom's favorite color is purple, she'd go positively nuts for them.

I've been thinking of bringing in another pair of peas, since with only a single pair I'm eventually going to end up with inbred birds... I'm just breeding for personal ornamental reasons and can't sell birds at all due to my flock's Mareks, but I know that it would be good to have 2 unrelated pairs on the property before next spring rolls around, even if I'm only hatching a couple each year. But... dare I ask the average cost of a pair of Purples?

That's expensive in my opinion. Unless it's for adults that are already producing then it's reasonable. If that's for peachicks then I might never get purple peafowl.

Let me know when you are ready for some Purples, I have lots of chicks from my Spaulding Purple Black Shoulder pens. Some are BS, others are not. Leggs sell their day old for $50 in straight run, but no guarantee of color, min of eight chicks per package.
