Raising and Growing Our Organic and Not- So-Organic Foods

@ kdogg Plants can be kept smaller with pruning, or get much larger in ideal situations. When I read pruning info for both romeo and carmine jewel, the cherries are along the stem and the tips are the leave growth. Do not tip prune, is the recommendation. I am ASSUMING a whole branch would be removed to thin and allow air movement.

I am still unclear about the growth habit: single trunk or multi stems.

What is the measurement of the fenced area? That is where you are talking about?

What about outside the fenced area--is that possible?

@Arielle2
I'll upload a different way - can you see this one?

I am not sure what the exact measurements are, would have to go out and measure it.

Outside the fence my mom has other plants I think but I'm not sure.

But we have almost 3 acres so if that area doesn't work, I'm sure I can find another spot for it!

I think it helps to see the perspective by the height of the people and the ladder they are using.

Maybe @Faraday40 will chime in and tell us if there are multiple stems on their bush.

Yes. it's a bush not a tree.
Here it is now

We've been enjoying it, so I got another as a mother's day gift.
It looks like sticks now but looking forward to a few years from now.

What kind is it again?

We don't mind the height & never trimmed it. About 8' tall (not 6 like advertised).

It looks pretty (spring flowers & glossy leaves) and produces well. The neighborhood kids stop to eat a few whenever riding by on their bikes. Plenty to share.

@Faraday40
Thanks! The photo without foliage is really helpful for me!

I have one ordered and waiting for it to arrive. I also purchased one of the Romeo to see if I like it better. My Romeo looks like the one you just planted - just bare root. Waiting to plant till tomorrow, I think, as it's supposed to be freezing tonight.

Thanks, that's helpful. Is it too late to buy one this year?

And aw that's awesome!
