That's awesome you share with neighbor kids too cause some people would freak out if someone even put a toe on their property, let alone "stealing" cherries lol so it's great you let them do that.

Yes, just one.

Ah okay. And would you guys recommend 2 carmine jewels, Romeo, or nanking for the second cherry??

I see you guys mention Romeo but in the description it mentions this

"Pollinator
It does not require a pollinator to produce fruit, but having another cherry (Nanking, sandcherry) nearby will increase productivity."

Also under unit of measure this one says 3 plants? Does it really come with 3?

It's not a big deal & I'd rather them eat fruit than candy bars. The kids eat less than the squirrels steal and can't damage the plant. The only thing I mind is when they're out back playing & my kids bring everyone into my fenced garden. You know they try to pull a peapod off & accidentally pull up the whole plant & the neighboring vines attached to them. They're only allowed to raid raspberries, blueberries, & cherries..... & mint leaves. (They pretend they're "brushing their teeth." LOL) It's not like they're bringing containers to carry it home. It's just little snacks here & there, and we enjoy watching the games they come up with. We have great neighbors and they all love our chickens & gardens & kids.

In 2 weeks we're getting new next door neighbors. In the 20+ years we've lived here, we only got 2 new neighbors on our block. Most have been here for 50+ years. I really hope the new people also like chickens. I only know that they really, really liked the house's big backyard & garden. They must have seen the chickens so they're probably not against them. (free fertilizer) I did the garden next door for the past several years because the woman was no longer physically able to keep it up. I was able to share produce with everyone on our street. Another woman in her 90s has the biggest berry patch & pear trees, so my kids harvest them for her as well as bring some home for us. It's just what we do because there's too much for one household to eat and no sense letting it spoil.

Wow it sounds like you live in a really nice community! That's awesome!

We've been enjoying it, so I got another as a mother's day gift.
It looks like sticks now but looking forward to a few years from now.

THanks Leahs mom for reposting that picture---that picture is WHY I leaped to order these cherries.

Thanks Faaraday for posting with out leaves. SHows the bones of the bush. The 3 in cold storage have lots of branching just like your newly planted cherry.

IMHO I would save rare areas like that sheltered area inside the fence for very special plants and shrubs that need extra protection and are not very big.

Perhaps look around those 3 acres, for a likely spot. Perhaps not too far from the kitchen door.
ALSO-- these will produce larger fruit and more fruit if given another companion cherry. Im still trying to find out which ones. One source listed Nanking and sandcherry----these 2 dont cross with what we know as typical cherries like Bing. So Im at a cross road. :idunnoI did buy both Romeo and Carmine Jewel but they are listed as self-fertile.
