I have had chickens since 2014, Australorp, Buff Orpington, Bard Rock and Leghorn.
I think the Leghorn is my favorite

Good morning, only found this thread now. I am a new chicken hatcher, I hatch for other people as a charity work. I have tried to hatch Leghorns twice, the first time, no fertile egg at all. The second time bought eggs from a different person and out of 3 fertile eggs 2 hatched. They are 20 days now and I think I have one male and one female BUT they are fighting like roosters, you know - jumping and bumping their chests, so I'm not sure if I have a female at all. If they fight like that maybe they are both males? I'll post pictures tomorrow. The male I do find neurotic. He loves boiled rice, he climbs on the top of the quails and looks from high...
Now, at what age do they start laying eggs?
I will have to keep all hatched chicken with me throughout the winter as people do not have warm places for little chicks. So I'll spend the winter with 50 chicks in my apartment. That would be interesting.
About,@GrandmaDeKorte10 so are you saying they started laying eggs at 17 weeks?
