Really FAT ducks!!!

My ducks are my pets never NEVER will they be slayed for eating my humans because they are too little and unable to defend themselves. After seeing this post I am so happy IM A VEGITARIAN AND ALWAYS WILL BE. Listen I know we all have choices but the choice to slaughter defenseless animals is beyond my belief. All I can say to you is what my father on our farm said to all of us children growing up (there were 7 brothers and one sister) He said, "Don't name those animals, they will be on our table to eat eventually." Obvioulsy I learned to love vegatables and other non meat food sources. Stop crying sounds like you knew these animals would be slaughted eventually. And yes I am the only vegitarian in my entire family and I feel good about that. LIFE IS PRECIOUS AND LOSS TEACHES US WHAT IS TRUELY IMPORTANT.

I understand the reasoning about not keeping animals that are productive, but do you have any ducks that aren't being raised for slaughter? If not, perhaps you can convince your family to let you keep at least one or two breeding trios. You can eat the eggs and/or raise their ducklings for meat or more egg laying ducks. That way, you won't have to buy any new ducklings, you'll have a renewable food source, and you get to keep some ducks to love on without worrying about them being slaughtered later. There are many breeds that lay eggs all year round or there are ways to keep them productively laying as much of the year as possible.

And what exactly is your definition of a food duck? A duck you buy at the store thats already killed and frozen?

I don't know if you know this or not, but that duck died too

Pekins are meat ducks, they are are the Cornish Giants of the duck world.

I do still have other ducks. I didn't name them. Pekins AND Rouens are meat ducks. I don't think it's right to kill defenseless animals but what do you think happened hundreds of years ago?

Just because others have kept ducks for meat doesn't mean you have to. If you want to, that's OK, but it's not required in order to keep ducks nor is it even required that you eat meat at all. It's up to you and your family.
