Red lump on chick's neck! Please help!

A few days ago, I noticed something, my chixk was losing some neck feathers.
I managed to get a better look yesterday... It's not pink, actually a blochy dark red colour... The skin around it looks dry. Its not very big though... Any ideas on what it is? Will it hurt her? I need to know If i have to take her to the vet. She is my (favourite) baby chick and we are so connected- I am urgent to help her!

It's not contagious. Yes she'll survive.

The follicles where the feathers grow got infected, & needs to be cleaned for it to heal up. That means removing the pins from the area, & attempting to squeeze out the puss from the infection site. There will be alittle blood, but that's normal. You can spray it with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to clear out any other nasties, & apply triple antibiotic ointment(non pain Relieving) to the area to keep it moist.

Will vets be able to do it? I dont trust myself to do it
