Redneck Sportsman in Progress

I was a cabinet maker for 20 years, & kept eyeballing my cousins Sportsman 1502. I went into my shop & built a replica for $ 165 including 3 turners.

Note: I was a CABINET MAKER, not an ELECTRICIAN.

I wired the electronic thermostat,.... & it shorted it out.

I went the easy route after that. I have a STORE BOUGHT 1502 now.

the electric is easy I am a wood butcher LOL

I know a little about wiring, but thank goodness I have my buddy who is an electric whizz coming to help me out when I am ready to wire.

I am torn between an incubator thermostat and one for a house. What do you think?

In my experience, a household thermostat (for air conditioner/heat pump) will not go high enough... At least, I could never find one that did... Most people don't want their heater to go over 100 degrees... LOL

Yeah, I found an incubator thermostat that adjusts between 90* and 125* I might put a bit of glue on the track where the knob turns. I could glue it at the 102 and the 98 mark so I can't screw things up too badly.

I bought the frame and insulation last night. It was $50.00 for the materials to make everything but the heating element and thermometer. I am ordering the rest today.

I use an older HB (1602 reptile ) and the wafer t-stat has been working well ( it was cheap @ one time @ cutler supply) for how everyone talks about them but my incy is pretty much used to hatch bobs and coturnix and it has really never been turned off this year but 2-3 times to clean the water pan and it has made a coupla 90%+ hatches shipped eggs don't do nearly as well as when you start setting your own eggs that and when I hatch local eggs from other breeders I do well too. I have meant to play with a house t-stat to see if there is an easy mod to make them work on a bator but this is kina like the egg turner I was building kina at the back of the shed right now
