I know how you feel! LOL I want a splash orp so badly...thought I had some finally but found out they are not true orps now

I'm keeping two anyhow because they are beautiful! Just won't breed them. Good luck getting your splash orp!

Agh! Cynthia that is too bad. I would reconsider keeping that pretty splash cockeral. The chances for splashes with a breeding to a blue pullet would greatly increase. Unbelievably splash luck!

I'd have to build another pen and coop if I kept another Orpington cockerel, though. I think Suede will be my only Orp man around here for the time being. I thought finally my luck had changed, but apparently, it's not to be, at least for now.

We need to be neighbors, Cyn. I have enough splash pullets to share one or two with you. It looks like my hatching is on a blue run now. Everything hatching from Bonnie and the other girls is blue.

I wish I could get my Splash Orp down to you. Genetically, what would happen
with her and Suede with her being his daughter?

PC, it wouldnt be a bad thing because that is linebreeding, very common. The issue would be if she had inherited the same flaws he has then bred together, that would keep it going. Delilah is his daughter. She happens to have two of his flaws and that's why I want to pull her out of there and put her in the laying flock. Now, I may need to keep her in with him, and only use her eggs if I absolutely have to.
