Here's one: Pulling into a gas station, having one (or more) men come out to ask what kind of gas you want, filling your tank, checking your tire pressure, belts, hoses, and whether or not your oil and coolant levels are correct.

Then giving you Blue Chip or S&H Green Stamps as thanks for choosing their station.
For that matter, who remembers Blue Chip or S&H Green Stamps!

Yeah, no one gets any service at service stations any more.
The annoying thing is that when they brought in the "self-service" pumps they told everybody it would make everything cheaper. Yeh, right.

Also, they'd wash your windscreen. As a little kid, I used to like watching "the guy" do the windscreen. It was entertainment.

When he was a little kid (maybe around 8 or 9), my ex made his own spending money washing windshields at his dad's service station.

Can you imagine the reaction you'd get today if you told some kid he had to wash windows at the gas stations? First you'd have to convince them, gas stations really did used to offer that service, lol.

and explain why all the people didn't just use the windscreen washing squirters in their cars. :D

Perhaps a young person today would enjoy my brother's part-time job? Working on the rubbish truck, back when there were a lot of young blokes who jumped off, ran and grabbed the bin and then took it and emptied it into the truck. No robot arms to pick up the bin, it was all people doing it.

Oh no, you'd be arrested for unfair child labor or have to pay him minimum wage.
