Same. :D I've not been a great internet friend lately. Too much happening I could really do without & no control over any of it. :idunno

Birds of a feather mate. I reckon you'd love the Stories of Eva Luna if you gave it a try. Some of the stories are very short but they're all vivid and marvellous.

What you suggest as an important must read? Steinbeck?
Idk Bob. I'm not sure any book is important. Preserving the information from text books probably is, but it doesn't have to be in book form.
I used to read a lot. There were shelves of books in the house I grew up in. I have a few of them here.
I like Charles Dickens and a few books written by scientists; The Blind Watchmaker for example. I read A Christmas Carol most years to try and remind myself of something but I'm not sure what it is I'm trying to remember. Most fiction I get bored of very quickly these days. I had boxes full of books before I came out here and I gave most of them away. I came to view them a bit like records (vinyl) before I went digital.
Some of my favorite books are pop up books. I had quite a few at one point.
I had quite a few comics; lots from French and other European illustrators.

I'm due to have my eyes tested again. I've been putting it off even though I'm having trouble with my eyes because my script is already really strong.
Mine actually got better. Apparently that can happen as you age. They way my lenses and eye shape are interacting has actually improved the vision in one of my eyes.

What sort of things do you like to read, Bob? You seem to have very eclectic tastes but like Shad I really can't recommend Ulysses
I read everything. I do have very eclectic tastes. The last book I read was a fascinating accounting of the events leading up to the 1964 Indianapolis 500. There was a terrible wreck and the race was stopped for the first time ever. It was an excellent build up to the event, gripping telling of the accident and best of all an excellent follow up on all the safety features that were developed as a result of it. Excellent book.

Before that it was the fantasy epic series Frostborn, remember the dark elves?

The book before that was I think an historical fiction and a private detective before that. I think the last real "literary" book I read might have been A Tale of Two Cities.
