I remember books in this genre as being situated in a realistic setting, but the ways in which the characters view the wotld is rational through a prism of dreamlike. For example they might see something physical in the heat or interpret shoulder blades as wing buds, but mostly they see the world and act within it rationally. There's a charming and warmhearted naivety under the surface - the characters' inner children perhaps or the manifestations of children that were never conceived.

I had never heard of that before. Thank you. That's interesting.

You know I have a large Children's Collection of my own. Many children's authors write better than adult authors so no judgements here.

Me too - I have a whole childrens books bookshelf that I dip into now and then. I don't know if any of you are familiar with the British painter called Brian Wildsmith - he did a lot of illustrations for kids books and I have quite a collection and I love all of them.

I own both of those and many more grant I teach little people, but I have shelves full of children's books and very few "adult books".

And my favorite thing was to read to my children! I would read multiple books a day and I would even sing some of the books in “opera” and they would all sit quietly... apparently my “opera” didn’t make them sick .... btw, I CANNOT sing
