Ribh's D'Coopage

Yes, but there are a couple of problems with that. I really need strong natural light to see properly these days. We have good lighting throughout the house but it's still not good enough for things like splinters & ticks. The good news is most of my girls can be caught & handled relatively easily. Morrigu is completely feral but the least likely probably to get one.

Did someone suggest a decent headlamp? They are so useful.

Shad has ~ several times. I've been a little reluctant to try because I find light moving like that very disorienting & lose my sense of balance. I used to cave & even as a teen I hated the headlamps, especially abseiling in.

I would be lost without mine! I sometimes point it straight up as I find then it is more like having low ambient light and less moving around.

That's an idea worth trying. Thanks, RC. I'll borrow one of the lads & try. They use them when crabbing.

No, they didn't put themselves to bed last night. I waited till it was nearly fully dark. It's been a week & I did think they might have got the idea by now ~ but, nope!
I've been fretting about it as I have to be out tonight. If the weather looked like being even semi reasonable I would leave them but when the wind picks up in the evenings it's distinctly chilly. There's no way the man can manage to coral 8 small pullets & put them to bed.

Worry for nothing. It is cold & rainy today so they can have an early bedtime with food & water in the coop.

@Ribh I wanted to show you my tiniest bantam, Lacey. She was living at my friend's farm and was a loner. She always rooster on a metal gate alone in the barn. She was wild as anything and Kasey could never catch her.

One night I was up there to help her with a horse and there sat Lacey in a tiny, puffy ball. I said 'I'm going to take that chicken home.' Kasey said 'if you can catch her you can keep her.' I walked right up to the gate and scooped her right up. I tucked her in my coat and brought her home.

Once I got home I could see she was missing toes and definitely suffered from frostbite. She lays tiny pink eggs about 3 times a week and gets more white with every molt. She is the toughest like chicken!!!

Oh! She's gorgeous! Is she a Belgian? Sorta looks like my Olivia. Not colour but shape & leg feathering.
