I was so proud of all my girls tonight.
We've been doing tax so I missed the girls putting themselves to bed but they were so quiet about it I couldn't quite believe my eyes.

Here is how I found them ~ all mixed up & as good as gold, the whole jolly lot~ even my oldest girls, who made a right old song & dance last night!

The missing Vorwerk eventually settled on the bottom rail with her friend & Alpia was hoyed out & onto the middle rail. Olivia had several attempt @ roosting on me before she turned her back & gave up for the night.

I am truly blessed with how well everyone is getting along. There was no fighting @ all today, not even first thing.​

This is stupendous! Great job, Chickens!

I really believe you would but I survived without and I have ensured that we have no snow for the next 5 years by purchasing snow shoes!

So, what is Link's breed heritage?
I think hubby will be disappointed that we can't get a hen with this colouring. I wouldn't mind having a hen with this colouring!

Hard to say. A fair bit of Old English Game I'm led to believe. Looking at Tack though there could be anything in the mix.

French Black Copper Marans. I'm writing it down...and bookmarking

Not wishing to start a flame war but there is no such breed as a French BCM.
There are French Black Marans. The rooster in my avatar is a French Black Marans as is Fat Bird. They came from France...not they are vaugly genetically related to a breed that comes from France. They came from Marans in France.
It's only been since this SOP nonsense has been going that the Black Copper bit got added on.
Much to the horror of the breeders in Marans there are now other variations in colour and shape called Marans.

As it happens.....
Treacle is off with Hurry. He's been off with Hurry for much of the afternoon. Hurry is lookinng for a new nest site. She was laying in the yellow maternity unit. Don't know what went wrong there. Cillin has got the hang of hanging around until Treacle goes off with one of the hens. He's got Fat Bird (you can see that her stance isn't quite right in this picture) Tap, Fudge and Mel and Tackle who are behind me. Moon is at the tribe coop door calling for Treacle.
