Most of you know I'm on babysitting duties Mondays & Fridays, which is why I am so conspicuously absent from BYC on those days. At 2 & 4 their attention span isn't the greatest but if we have things to do their behaviour stays within fairly acceptable limits. At present I am working my way through my limited storage of simple science experiments. None of us understand the science but they are fun to do.

Yesterdays was *Tornado in a jar* & *teabag rockets.*

I'm pretty good @ the arty stuff but as they are also in day care they do plenty of that but if any of you have brilliant ideas that have worked with your munchkins please post. We have all of winter to get through yet.🙄
Here's a very simple one. It's about water tension. I loved doing science experiments. The man explains what is happening in the video. Looks like he has quite a few other experiments too. Have fun with your grandkids...:love

The moulting has begun here. The coop is a veritable snowstorm of discarded feathers & it will only get worse.

My bathroom girls are slowly improving but Desdemona has a really bad case. Everyone is eating well but the poops can be a little strange.

The Newbies are loving being in the larger coop. They all managed to take themselves to bed Tuesday but last night Oshina didn't manage it @ all & I found her crying in distress & frantically pacing the little run long after the others had all gone to roost. :( Left her run too late I think. Silly girl.

Thanks, Rene. I need all the help I can get. Eight hours twice a week is a lot of time to fill in ~ especially when the weather turns bad on us.

Oooh! Plant 2 or 3 bean seeds around the edge of a glass jar. Make a sleeve of cardboard or dark paper to put around the jar. You can watch the leaves and roots grow week by week. Maybe take a photo each week to map progress and make a mark on the jar where the root has grown to.

Show how plants breathe by holding a glass over the end of the stem in the sun and watch it fog up.

Get a fresh white flower, split it's stem and put one half in a glass with blue (food colouring) in the water and the other in a glass with red water. You end up with a blue and white flower!

Make a non-Newtonian fluid that gets hard when under pressure but flows when relaxed. Water and cornstarch. 😁

Here are some experiments I just found. I particularly like the milk, food colouring and soap one.

These are great experiments!
