Ribh's D'Coopage

Your temps are insane @ the moment.
Especially when you consider this 5 months ago.

We get all 4 seasons here. With all extremes.

Some of you will remember this.
My girl Ha'penny spent @ least a week sneakily hopping the fence when I wasn't around & laying her egg in a beautifully hidden nest half under a log & camouflaged by palm fronds. By the time she decided to sit there were 10 eggs under her! I was frantic with worry when I couldn't find her & must have walked past her dozens of times without seeing her.
One of the reasons I originally wanted this breed was because they weren't supposed to go broody. So much for that! She has @ least one go each season! 🙄

What a great gone feral nest shot. Easy to see how one could miss her. It's the combs I found gave them away.

Even a red comb isn't easy to spot here. The gum leaves have different shades of red all the time so a comb sort of blends in. It took me ages to find her & I sort of knew whereabouts she'd gone to ground. 🙄

IT's
KOFFEE KLATCH WEDNESDAY WHEREVER
again.
We are in a 3 day lockdown again & the weather is miserable, very cold & wet, so it's virtual chickens this morning.

We've been lucky to have no cases of the delta variant in Adelaide yet, still we are back to no choirs, no drinking in pubs while standing, masks in crowds, and lots of testing. Glad I had my first Astrazeneca shot already!

I had breakfast in the back porch so I could keep my sparrow survey going. I've blocked one sparrow superhighway already today. Since then, they've given me some respite.

You are like me and the mice. I was completely absorbed by finding the super-highways and closing them down. :lau

I just capture what nature presents. I would kill for a thunderstorm right now. My plants are all hiding under the magnolia tree with the chickens so they don't burn up.
We are having a Noah's Ark type rain at the moment as Bob says. Thunder, lightning and lots and lots of rain
