It's winter & I'm not getting a lot of eggs. Beatha moulted early but while her eggs are lovely she's not my most productive hen. The bantams, who were laying, have given up the ghost. So I was delighted when Luna finished her moult & decided to get on the laying wagon again. She started almost a week ago & I have had an egg a day ever since.
The thing is she has always laid a buff egg, pretty much the same size & colour as Hepzibah or Soda's. Hard to tell them apart ~ until now. Now [though it is hard to tell from the picture] I am getting quite dark brown eggs from her. Not in the Maran's league but definitely not buff & not even brown. They are dark. I swear, my birds get odder by the day.
