Ribh's D'Coopage

They look like they have had a lot of fun out in the rain for certain!

Why did you dry them? Was it getting cold?
They were cold & wet they have even more trouble regulating their body temp. When you can wring them out it's time to dry them off.

We have another rain bomb sitting on top of us. The next few days are going to get pretty wet. The girls got in a little foraging time first thing.
That's Sif in front. Not laying but back running with the tribe.
And the great moult has begun. Quite a few of the girls are looking pretty ratty & there are more feathers than usual flying around.

So pleased for Sif! We also have stupid amounts of rain again. The girls have shown no interest in free-ranging this morning, which is good as they have medicated water today.

So I will have to watch Betty for this as well. Good to know. I bet Olivia hated all that special attention!
Any weather extremes affect frizzles as they don't regulate body temp as well as other chickens. I've found them pretty hardy but I don't have the extremes you do either.

To me they look like the kind of chickens who should sit under one of those old-fashioned drying domes. I don't know if they exist - I think they were used for perms. They could sit there with a magazine and some treats and catch up on gossip while drying.

Not very long ago (8 years maybe?) I had a few appointments in a hairdressers shop that still had those huge dryers! It gave me a slightly unsettled feeling. I was thinking the place was equipped for some rather outdated techniques and maybe the staff had not kept their skills fresh. I moved on to a new hairdresser after 4 or 5 appointments.
