Not very long ago (8 years maybe?) I had a few appointments in a hairdressers shop that still had those huge dryers! It gave me a slightly unsettled feeling. I was thinking the place was equipped for some rather outdated techniques and maybe the staff had not kept their skills fresh. I moved on to a new hairdresser after 4 or 5 appointments.

I am glad you at least knew what I was talking about!
Maybe they have all now been repurposed as heat lamps for brooding chicks.

Portia is much more mobile this morning. She moved out with the rest of the flock. How red her comb is is rather worrying. I'd rather she didn't lay for a few more days @ least!

The rest of the girls were holed up round the crab pots pretending they were staying dry.​

I remember my mother going to a hairdressers with dryers as you describe.

Pleased to read that Portia is showing signs of recovery.

Is Sif still improving as well?

Yes. She is still a bit wobbly on occasion but she moves round with the tribe, gets herself up & puts herself to bed & finds her way to the food when she is hungry. Not laying yet but I consider that a good thing.

We also have stupid amounts of rain again. The girls have shown no interest in free-ranging this morning

Mine don't want to go out either but it is due to the cold and white stuff on the ground.

I ASSUME (because I've never had one used on me) that they are quite time efficient, dry one client's hair while working on another. Can't do that with a blow dryer.

Any weather extremes affect frizzles as they don't regulate body temp as well as other chickens. I've found them pretty hardy but I don't have the extremes you do either.

Éowyn had her one year check up today. She is officially 19.4 lbs!

She had to go in the chicken crate because she is too large for the cat carrier now.

My girls have the option of staying dry. They chose to get sodden. I try to get them dry before they start looking miserable & I have feathered feet to deal with as well. I can't remember if any of yours are floozie footsies too but it's that much more wet chicken. Having a dry run is a bonus.

Yes, Tegan and Nyssa have fluffy feet. They might have been a bit bored today but at least they were dry.

The chook Taj Mahal won’t be here for another 2 weeks.
