I wonder if refusing one egg is normal.

My old Dutch bantams often get broody when there are 4 eggs or more to sit on. If I take away all eggs but one (fake egg), they keep sitting. When I take away all eggs, they often stop being broody. And the fresh eggs get scattered all around the coop and run.
