Ribh's D'Coopage

Thanks for the "17" explanation MJ and Ribh :)

Alice is doing well thanks MJ. Pepper is my latest addition but I can't remember how to change the thingy under my signature so I haven't added her yet :( :p (Any pointers appreciated :))

Pepper seems to have adopted Edwina as her big sister and usually follows her around. All 5 of them hang out together preening under the Chinese lantern bush so, except for Tsuki's bullying and food aggression, they are behaving more like a single flock.

Also, the "old" girls are still roosting in in the old coop at night and the young ones in the new coop :hmm
I've found the food aggression settles over time as the pecking order stabilizes though I still have 2 feeding stations @ night to ensure everyone goes to bed with a full crop.

I love watching my girls dustbathing.
So unselfconscious about enjoying themselves. :)

And I just happened to catch this shot of one of our bees lugging this out of the hive! No idea what...
It wasn't animal.

Wow! Makes me grateful for my boys... my girls don’t generally compete for my attentions, they would rather avoid extra attention from me most of the time, unless there’s a particularly nice treat involved ;) lovely landscapes and sunset/sunrises everyone! What a way to start off my day, looking at all the beauty.

I’m having a little trouble keeping up on here, as things have started to get busy with our fall season, but I’m still reading and catching up, granted mostly in little bursts to keep up to date.

I’m fairly certain my hatch is done with about a 50% hatch rate on this one. I’ve got ten or 11 healthy chicks out and 4 eggs I don’t expect to do anything still in the incubator. Here are some of the less boring pics of the foundation. Later today I still have to take a bunch more of the rebar inside these walls for our engineer. The south wall picture gives a good idea of what the view from the main living area of the house will be.

Kris, that is lovely! We all know this is a busy season for you & you know where to find us if you need us for any little hiccups. So happy to see house progress.:hugs

Good morning Ribh :frow

sorry for mixing up the girls names @Aussie-Chookmum :he

Good thanks :) all three chooks are happy and healthy. Janet made me late for brunch yesterday. She was laying an egg in a nest outside the safe coop, so I had to wait for her to finish before I could put them away and go to brunch. I was 20 minutes late and got a mild scolding, even though I brought the offending egg along (and five others) as a peace offering. I sulked and thought, "my chicken friends would understand."

Blossom the cat has been delightful company lately.

I hope to get the replacement car this week or next. Looking forward to returning the borrowed car to my cousin. It's got a european steering column with all the bits back to front. I keep wiping windows instead of indicating.

Work is manageable instead of frantic, so that's good. Staffing upheavals are just about smoothed out, so it'll be business as usual soon, except for some writing I must catch up on. They allocated my workload for next year: 600 hours overloaded. Hahaha *sob* I'll get it sorted out, but take advantage much??

And that's pretty much all my news :)

We do. :)

Marlow had begun deserting me @ night. Summers are too hot for him & I miss his rumbling purr in my ear as I drift off to sleep. A cold snap has seen him back...:gig
