Sorry I didn't get out here earlier, but work was a beast yesterday.

Thank you it's been very difficult. He was 29 years old, a marine who survive Iraq, he had a 5 year old daughter, and he was intentionally ran over by the lover of his ex.

Bob you may have heard it on the local news, since we are not too far apart. It was terrible for all involved.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Nick I will think of him when I think of others who have fallen. There aren't words to adequately express my thoughts of the senselessness of his death and that his daughter will grow up without a father. She too will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Well, Vinny is in his new home... I brought him today to the gal that took the little bully chick from me a few months ago.. I saw him today... gorgeous!!
She took Vinny and plopped him in the middle of their ginormous coop.. with hens, roosters, turkeys, ducks, guinea... and the first fight he picks is with a turkey .. it didn’t amount to much thank goodness... anyway, there is no quarantine.. no “see no touch”... just put and let them work it out... and it seems to work.. they have about 6 roosters just walking here, there, and everywhere... and not minding one bit of anyone’s business... she has her very small children walking about and the birds seem to know their place... and no rooster fights
I also got to hold a new born baby goat

I am glad you found a solution that works for both him and your flock! I know that wasnt easy. Of course holding a baby goat is a great consolation!

Wow... all caught up now. @Grammy60 and everyone, those are some gorgeous pictures! @CrazyChookChookLady your picture was hauntingly beautiful, I'm so sorry for your loss, that is truly a crazy situation. I hope that Justice was served, and that you and your friends family is able to find peace.

Best of luck with the hyacinth and bluebells @Ribh... that’s a strange thing for me to say because we had them like weeds at my old house... they came up everywhere from the veggie beds to the middle of the lawn! The hyacinths were slightly better behaved for me, and I adored the crocus flowers of the early spring.

@WhoDatChick im so glad things are working out for Vinny in his new home. Him picking a fight with a turkey right off the get go? Reminds me of my little Sammy chasing the cows! “I can take him, he’s only five times my size... I’m a tough boy, see? see!”

Our weather here has turned very unusual for July. Lots of rain, which the girls aren’t happy about, but it will be good for the fields and keeping our fire hazards down, and the local water supplies full. I’m glad to be back and catching up in everyone’s experiences. Looking forward to more news and updates...

I’m gonna start the research ... you should have seen it following us around like a puppy and when it got separated from us by a fence.. it would walk the fence line screaming for us
She is bottle feeding that one so it’s very attached...

That's awful. I can't begin to comprehend how much resentment you must feel. I trust the ex was prosecuted, lost their licence and served a sentence?

Nor can I get my head around the act. Think about how much self-centredness and selfishness and childishness are required to deliberately strike another person with a car.

I mean, I would be beyond mortified if I accidentally struck another person with my car. I'd give up driving because I'd no longer trust myself behind the wheel and I would go through any justice proceedings with attentiveness and respect in order to ensure I repaid my debt and did my share of mending the social fabric. I simply don't have access to the state of mind required to deliberatley run someone down.

The man who struck Nick has been arrested, but of course justice moves at a snails pace, so he is currently free on bail. Trial is pending. It's a truly bizarre situation for sure. The guy claims he hit a deer, but Nick was walking on the side walk in the middle of town, there is no way he could have mistaken Nick for a deer.

My friend had a house kid this spring. Her goat gave birth to premature triplets and only 1 made it, but it was so small it needed to have constant care. It wore a diaper and she bottle fed it round the clock. Now it's doing great and thinks it one of her dogs.

The guy claims he hit a deer, but Nick was walking on the side walk in the middle of town, there is no way he could have mistaken Nick for a deer.

That is some good news anyway. I hope they can prosecute him effectively.
