Good morning Jeannie and all![]()
The Polar Blast has reached us. Wind, wind & more wind. Down to about 3 degrees. Our fire is raging. So grateful for a good fire & plenty of wood to stoke it!
I lost a dozen rescue chickens in a short space of time & a local dog kept digging them up ~ over & over! I was getting quite frantic. The kids weren't coping. And we didn't have garbage collection...Our ground is too rocky to dig really deep but @ least it wasn't sheep. Pheew!
Well, what's the saying?
"Good fences make good neighbours"
I'd hate not to have my six foot fence. Stops my dogs and chooks running away and getting hurt. And I like my privacy!![]()

I have large planks I use for a year before I plant grass and/or flowers that is wired off. I had to come up with a system. They can be disgusting.

Hate 'em. We've had them hover in front of our bedroom windows looking in.What about the flippin' drones! I hate them, buzzing around, snooping into the yard when all I'm doing is having a cuppa with the chooks!
Our eastern windows go floor to ceiling @ canopy height so that's just rude!
We can't fence.I love the 6 foot privacy fence I have. It makes everything so much easier. I had to jackhammer over 40 post holes in limestone during 2 weeks of over 100° F (37.7°C). temperatures but it changed everything about our property. While I didn't know it at the time, it makes free ranging easy.
Our terrain is really uneven & quite difficult with cutaways & cutbacks & drop offs even though it's not quite an acre. We are going to drive some star pickets into the hill & lay posts against them & fence that area & let the chooks start to level it out ~ which they will.
But proper fencing all the way round...? Never going to happen.I think they should be remotely identifiable and confined to existing roads and parks. But how to police? Maybe folks who find drones offensive can volunteer to host detectors that give on the spot fines. Or somesuch.Hate 'em.
