We had a rough few weeks with a shift in flock dynamics. It has settled again now & all is relatively peaceful.

I just watched the funniest thing! Soda was amongst the 1st to roost tonight & whenever that happens she paces the roost fending off all boarders. Tuppence was up but bearing the brunt of Soda's wrath. Lottie wasn't & Soda was making a point of hogging the corner Lottie really likes. Then Luna arrived. Such a calm, placid chookie. She surveyed what Soda was doing then calmly hopped up beside her, with only a token peck or 2 from Soda. Then Lottie arrived & Luna nudged Soda along the roost so Lottie could hop up into her corner! I thought that was pretty cool but Luna wasn't done yet. No~one would let Patricia up so Luna did it again! Bump! Bump! Soda was miffed but she did do as she was asked. Honestly! They are so funny.

Every flock does need one! Honestly, Luna is worth her weight in gold. She's so unassuming. Never hustles. Never demands. Just quietly goes about her business but she's a really stabilizing influence on the whole flock.

Same here! No idea when it is, but I hope everyone who celebrates it makes the most of the opportunity to meet up with family. And to maybe plan on creating a few kindnesses for others to be thankful abiut over the next 12 months (is that how it works?)
