For a week or so I've had the feeling that something isn't quite right with Tuppence. I checked her over & I checked her over & for the life of me I couldn't see anything. I wear very strong prescription glasses so perhaps that's not saying much.
I've been keeping an eye on her but she seemed pretty much as usual except she stopped laying & her comb has been dry & getting blackish. I almost always have a bit of fowl pox due to our huge mozzie population so I was monitoring but I just had the feeling Tuppence had lost confidence. Being on the bottom had never seemed to worry her before. Campines are feisty!
Anyway after reading, reading, reading I decided to treat for lice/mites. I do my coop regularly but I have several hens that get out of the run where their chances of coming into contact with wild birds & their droppings/water etc is far greater. I have spent the morning catching hens. After spraying the 1st one no~one wanted to know me. Tuppence is the only one I have spotted creepy~crawlies on but everyone is getting done. I still have 3 to do. *sigh* And a coop to clean. Again. Hoping I have nailed this.
And I have just discovered these horrors love sub~tropical conditions!
