Me too. I've seen Luna, who is such a kind chookie, Ha'penny, Soda & even Suyin put a protective wing over Lottie if they happen to be the girl roosting with her.
I love when the flock supports each other like this. That is so sweet.

Great picture Ribh. This is just weird.
Lottie is bottom chook. She's not a real social lady during the day either & when she gets pecked she has a high pitched squeal but ever since we lost Tuppance it doesn't matter who Lottie roosts with they do this....
Yep. Patricia has a wing over Lottie.

Despite the heat everyone is still cuddled up. I get a real giggle out of the girls trying to look @ the world upside down but the big girls are definitely feeling the heat.
@BY Bob: I had to show Lavender what the new step was for.Definitely not the brightest chook I own. All I'd done was shorten her pacing space but I think she's got it now. I don't hear her frantic bok~boking when she goes to roost now.

I love being round when they go to roost.Good evening folksJeannie I love seeing the girls on the roost.
That's some rain you've had there, Shad. Pretty sure I'd be in the sheep shed with Fat BirdWe've had some weather. Fat Bird (the black hen in the picture) headed straight for the sheep shed after breakfast. Cillin has learn't that Fat Bird knows stuff and stayed out most of the day.

Solomon who doesn't mind the rain as long as it's not cold and Jenny seemed unconcerned by the weather in general.

I understand. My children have been running me ragged all week. Now all I want to do is chill with my chickens.I've got to admit, I'm getting too old for this crisis stuff. I was out with the chain saw until 4am last night with a few of the others who live on this side of the mountain. We did with the help of two Bobcats get the track down cleared of trees and debris. I'm too tired to sleep now.
Me too. It is my favorite time. Quiet contented chuckles. And they look so cozy all puffed up in their down and feather PJs. While I am standing outside like an idiot freezing my toes and fingers off. Which is why I need to learn from @BY Bob and get cameras. Oh, I need sound too. Hmmm.I love being round when they go to roost.Mostly they make such gentle, happy sounds & generally there's not much squabbling. Everyone just picks a spot & hops up then they sort of coo @ each other.
Geez. Sounds tough going.I've got to admit, I'm getting too old for this crisis stuff. Wait.. are those “toe nails” on that duck!? I’ve had Muscovy ducks.. but never with nails like thatWe've had some weather. Fat Bird (the black hen in the picture) headed straight for the sheep shed after breakfast. Cillin has learn't that Fat Bird knows stuff and stayed out most of the day.
