I think you like a challengeBitzers can be lovely & sometimes hardier. Unfortunately I seem to have a thing for the harder to manage breeds....? It's a good thing I can't get some of the things that intrigue me.

I doubt it. A lot depends on that leghorn mix that is incubating right now. The issue is overall space in the yard. This is a suburban development. The yard handled 5 hens ok this year. I'm worried about 6 and maybe 7. I just don't have unlimited space.
When we lived in the city it was always in the back of my mind, even after we finally got a fence up... if only we could buy the house next door too, I could move in my (I now know awful) BIL and his family (they are sweet, especially my little niece I miss so much), and thereby double our yard!
I was wondering what sort of relationship @BY Bob has with his neighbors - maybe access to a corner of their yard in exchange for eggs might be negotiable!
