Ribh's D'Coopage

Josh was back to the surgeon today. His new x-rays showed 1 pin in his RT leg had moved and needed to be removed. The doctor gave him a local and removed the pin in the office and glued the spot shut. He has a clean bill of health and has officially been released!

Today's X-ray showing the pin sticking out past his joint.

The shorter pin is still secure, so it was left alone.

This is his before x-ray.

That's amazing! He was really banged up poor thing. I'm glad he is almost completely recovered and has a forever home with you. He's such a sweetheart.❤️

Fat Bird and Moon.
Now here's a thing. Fat Bird and Moon seem to get along really well. The rest, well the just accept Fat Bird is senior and mind their manners. Mel, while second in command isn't friendly with Fat Bird as such. There is no problem between them but they don't hang around together much. Moon and Fat Bird do.
I think I mentioned in the past the Moon lays the darkest eggs. They were almost Marans dark brown for a while. They are now a shade lighter but still darker then any of the others. So, I'm guessing that despite being white, Moon has more Marans in her or its more obvious than any of the others and Fat Bird knows this and so does Moon.
Moon is quite large now and if you ignore her colour she has more Marans charactaristics than the others.
It's very interesting.

It's lovely that they have each other.
I wonder if it's a Marans temperament thing rather than a physical similarity?

Most of you know I'm on babysitting duties Mondays & Fridays, which is why I am so conspicuously absent from BYC on those days. At 2 & 4 their attention span isn't the greatest but if we have things to do their behaviour stays within fairly acceptable limits. At present I am working my way through my limited storage of simple science experiments. None of us understand the science but they are fun to do.

Yesterdays was *Tornado in a jar* & *teabag rockets.*

I'm pretty good @ the arty stuff but as they are also in day care they do plenty of that but if any of you have brilliant ideas that have worked with your munchkins please post. We have all of winter to get through yet.🙄
Well done on the experiments Ribh. I used to do lots of cooking and baking with mine. Have you tried making stained glass cookies? They are a basic butter biscuit with a shape in the middle cut out and a bit of boiled lolly dropped into the empty spot. When cooked, the lolly melts to fill the spot and make a colourful "window".

Not the least bit healthy but fun!

Edit: youngest says to make sure they are cool before taking off the tray!

Oooh! Plant 2 or 3 bean seeds around the edge of a glass jar. Make a sleeve of cardboard or dark paper to put around the jar. You can watch the leaves and roots grow week by week. Maybe take a photo each week to map progress and make a mark on the jar where the root has grown to.

Show how plants breathe by holding a glass over the end of the stem in the sun and watch it fog up.

Get a fresh white flower, split it's stem and put one half in a glass with blue (food colouring) in the water and the other in a glass with red water. You end up with a blue and white flower!

Make a non-Newtonian fluid that gets hard when under pressure but flows when relaxed. Water and cornstarch. 😁

Here are some experiments I just found. I particularly like the milk, food colouring and soap one.

Thank you for sharing the x-rays. I am very glad that he is doing better and it was no big thing. Most importantly, did they shave him again?

I will see what I have in my library but it has been almost 30 years since I entertained any that young.
