Yes, I've been keeping tabs on Ivy. I know it's an issue. I honestly never wanted to do the chick thing. I'm not really into babies but I do want more Campines so it seems I will have to bite this bullet. You can hold my hand & hopefully not repeat my mistakes.

I doubt there are many mistakes to make but one thought I've kept in mind is the possibility of a hatch/gestation going wrong. Can I deal with an alive non-chick? Probably not so I hope I won't have to. We'll see how things turn out.

These boys have become quite the pair. Just before this picture they were washing each other.

Also this morning Peaches caught a mouse in my bedroom!! I didn't get any pictures, but she got lots of praise!

I'm in the same boat. The older hens are never broody. Peggy was broody once. Ivy is the only one who sits and she's the lowest in the pecking order.

Here too. The bottom 2 so far. Well, Maleficent was 3 in the order when she tried to set.

Titania wants to sit.
Her nest is as high as she is & when she pancakes she is below its rim.
I keep finding 2 or 3 eggs under her but so far she's not showing signs of being serious.
She's one of my youngest hens & quite low down the totem pole.​

This is Wrold. She's the bantam I'm hoping goes broody & is willing to sit.
I know from last year she will fiercly defend her nest & is a determined sitter.
Her comb & wattles have just now gone bright red so she should be laying again soon & that is good news because when she starts laying she goes broody! I spent all last summer trying to break her. No sooner did I manage it than she turned right round & tried again. She deserves a chance to prove herself.

Now if either Hepzibah [BR] or Alpia, her sister, will join her I will have the 2 hens I need to brood. Either will work for me. Alpia isn't so fierce but she is a sweetie & should do ok with her sister to back her up.​

I found my box of tiny teapots especially for today.

It's a Kind of Koffee Klatch Wednesday Wherever

Unfortunately the trivet for my pet is too wide for the shelf.

It will just have to live with my tea instead.
