While we're on the subject, I encountered the word scrump the other day and looked it up.

Hence scrumpy meaning cider. I knew scrumpy but had not heard of scrump.

I don’t know what other words there are for tannoy. What would you say when someone makes an announcement about a train arriving late? When I was growing up we would say that was an announcement over the tannoy.
