Ribh's D'Coopage

One if the things I would like to do more of when I retire (in NINE days time!) is read more poetry.
Maybe I should start with Coleridge.
Hmmmm....I'm not sure I'd start there. He also did Rime of the Ancient Mariner ~ which goes on forever! 🙄 Do you prefer classical or modern poetry?

Oh dear. You really didn’t have a theological upbringing!
Neither did I, so I will be going way out over my skis here and say that it is all about showing the unconditional love that the father has for the son and by analogy I assume God has for mankind. Something like that.
Ohhhh a forgiveness allegory.

The time difference will confuse me. Do I retire a day earlier in Australia? I think I do!
No, it's the other way. By the time you retire, Australia has moved on to the next day.

Unless you were in Australia, when yes, you'd be a day earlier than new jersey you.

Oh I loved the Ancient Mariner. We studied it at school I think. I used to remember great chunks of it. The only thing that comes to mind now is the imagery of the becalmed ship something about a painted ship upon a painted ocean.
Then I fell in love with Under Milk Wood.
As a teenager I loved a number of Paul Dehn’s anti nuclear war poems.
And for a giggle there is always Ogden Nash.
I am a big Shakespeare fan but weirdly have never read the sonnets.
So, as you can tell, I could very easily spend my afternoons sitting with the chickens reading poetry to them!

I think I like the Australian version better.
