Good evening folks

I have a bunch of migratory birds visiting right now. They are thinking about going north but maybe not. They can't seem to make up their minds. Mostly sparrows and blue jays. Hundreds of sparrows. only 10 or 12 blue jays.

Blue Jay's are loud. How annoying are they?

They are my responsibility so we will see if we can adjust their attitude.

I don't know a whole lot and don't know if you can have a rooster but if you DID have a rooster, perhaps he would be top bird and kick the meanies in their tail feathers?

They are thinking about going north but maybe not.

Tell them to hang tight for awhile, it will be -12°F again tonight.

Rooster not allowed. But I reckon you're right. That would do the trick. Unfortunately my lead hen is a tad unwell & starting to slow down & her underlings [another BR, a FavorelleX & a Campine] are either too timid or too scatterbrained to take on the Vorwerks. Which is a pity as both Campines are plenty feisty enough.

He is! It is hard to take good photos of black cats so I was really pleased I got good sunlight on him for this.

My problem girls.
The good news:
With the cage in use Sif had to roost with everyone else last night. When I went out to shut up I found she'd got 3/4 of the way there under her own steam & obviously had every intention of roosting with everyone else.

Even better I spotted her having a really good dust bath & she is hobbling round on the knuckles of her toes. Now if I can just straighten her feet out...​

I have 2 Vorwerks in a cage.
Tsura wants to know what's happened to her hemp bale.

Yes, that's part of a cat litter tray which I don't use for the cats but I thought would work as a nesting box.
Olivia is blaming Shuri for the changes. She is adamant Shuri is to get out of the shed & stay out! Shuri must be 5 times her size but she scuttles of in terror of Miss Mini Ferocious.​

Soda is peeved because her afternoon nap was disturbed. I may deep litter now I have hemp down as a base rather than straw but this is the 1st time I've had enough good weather @ the right time to actually clean the girl's shed out. They'll be happy. They like when I clean.

Good luck with your chicken training Ribh.

By the by, you were right about the cockatoos being destructive. If we don't rush out to feed them they will tear at the flyscreens, pick up tiles and pots and drop them and knock things off tables. I will not deal with extortionists so I shoo them and tell them to go look for healthier food and come back with a better attitude.
When they knock politely on the window they get food.

And cockatoos are adept learners! They should catch on.
