Are we thinking about this the wrong way around?
Instead of watching threads, should we be watching profiles?
Yes - I can see that problem. Even just being in the UK for a week I found it much harder to keep up.
Yes that is sort of what I was suggesting - but I watch profiles within watched threads. So I don't follow you and see everything you post everywhere, but if you post on a thread I am watching I go look at that.
It is a bit cumbersome because it requires scanning that little bell icon - but I do manage that successfully on some threads I watch. I need to clean up my watched threads list too.

When I visit Ribh's profile, I can see her recent posts.
I'm suggesting that I watch your profile to get to your posts on Bob's thread.
Oh! I didn't realize that worked that way - it is a better way of doing what I do.

No worries! I may bookmark the profiles of my favourite folks then use their profiles to hop directly to their posts.
Oh. Hmm that doesn't help!
It must be a privacy setting - I could undo it if I remembered what I did to set it that way!
