Ribh's D'Coopage

I think it's quite common for mature students to know and feel their incompetency (and therefore work very hard) while the younger ones go through happy and clueless (and do the bare minimum).
I was wondering that myself. It seems logical it would be the case.

I was definitely an over-achiever as a mature-age student. Well, in my music degree anyway. I struggled with the law degree and the Ps and Cs I was getting for law contrasted mightily with the HDs I was getting for music!

Does your uni offer RAs (Reasonable Adjustment) Ribh? I had one in my final year, which meant if I needed an extension on a deadline I was granted it. It also meant my lecturers were aware of my mental health and took that into consideration. It was a life-saver!
I think all Aussie unis do that. Otherwise they'd be discriminating. eta... and in breach of antidiscrimination law. But they might have different names for it. At my uni it's called an Access Plan.

I'm not sure Lozzy. I have something in place so I don't even have to ask for an extension. Every uni seems to be a bit different. I've been very happy with UNE's support on multiple levels. I think I made a really good call on my uni choice. My daughter was surprised I didn't go local [I'd be in school with her; perish the thought!!!] & my brother wanted to know why I hadn't returned to USQ but my Alma Mater doesn't offer a Master's in any of the humanities. UNE was my first choice when I left school but I deferred & went overseas instead. I'm not a very tidy person, I'm afraid, so it's all a bit of a muddle. Normally that would not be a problem for me. I enjoy a bit of chaos but just now I'm really craving structure & calmness. The chooks & cats are lifesavers.

This I understand only too well. I excel in those things that really interest me & flunk badly in what doesn't ~ & every degree is something of a mix.:idunno
