Ribh's D'Coopage

Surgeon just called. Nightshade is out of surgery. Surgeon removed a 3x5 cm mass from his nasopharynx. That is huge! It was very vascular and he lost a lot of blood but is doing OK. They are worried that either bleeding or swelling may cause him to suffocate post op, so want to keep him in the ICU tonight.
She said she had never seen anything like what they removed so she is not placing any bets on whether it is a benign polyp or a malignant tumor. We have to wait about a week for lab results on that.
For now I am taking it as good news that he has a fighting chance of coming home tomorrow.

When he heals he'll be so much better off without that huge lump choking him. I'm so glad they're keeping in to be sure he won't choke.

How are you feeling?

Weird.
Thanks for asking.
I am anxious and relieved all at the same time. And still a bit shaken.
Also exhausted as I didn’t get home until 1am last night from the emergency place.
I will feel better when he is at home. I know he is likely scared in the ICU - but maybe he is still zonked out.
I hope he feels better being able to breathe. She said he is breathing fine just now.

It’s a sad Caturday for me. After six hours at the emergency vet, I have left Nightshade overnight in their ICU.
His soft palate is 3+ times the size it should be and close to choking him.
Likely cancer but unclear. Surgeon will call me in the morning.
I hated leaving him there.
He is the only one of my cats to regard me as more than a mere servant.
He is my cuddle buddy.
Feeling a bit bereft.

So stressful when those we love need surgery!

He would be very groggy and mostly asleep.

Have some more hugs. :hugs :hugs :hugs
The sweet ones usually do well @ the vets as everyone adores them & they get the extra attention. Any time my boys have been to the vet they are fussed over & spoilt abominably as they are so very sweet & easy to deal with. I'm sure Nightshade is the same.

Oh you are so right!
The surgeon already commented in her first call that he was very chill with her prodding and poking around.

Leonard is going to have his hands full with your group, especially Ha'penny. 😆
It's not Ha'penny who is the problem. 🤣 Portia really has her nose out of joint & went into full attack mode. I had to intervene. She's twice the size of Leonard & twice as heavy. I wasn't worried about her but I was concerned for him. She's settled down but will have nothing to do with him. It was sort of hysterical as the rest of the tribe fled the scene. Ha'penny went straight over the fence & hid under the house. Then, when I put the sitters off the nest, Chavi went for him ~ so that was my biggest & my smallest hens! 🙄 She didn't have a hope but kept trying & he kept putting her on her back. Considering how fierce she was he was remarkably gentle with her.
Naturally it is the younger girls who are most accepting of him. He had his first go @ wooing China this morning & got rebuffed in no uncertain terms!

I do think I have hit the jackpot with this rooster. He has no people aggression @ all. I can handle him ~ he's much smaller than he looks ~ & he's being patient with the girls. I have stood out in the yard [in a very roosterish manner] watching to see how things panned out & he wasn't concerned about me @ all. Marlow has been joining me in the yard while I have my coffee & let everyone out ~ no worries there either. And he seems to know his job, though the girls are being terrible feminists, being used to doing things for themselves!🤣
